From A to B

Art in Architecture - From A to B, 2010

Awarded Runner-Up Prize Epsom Station Project Public Art - Solum in connection with Network Rail & Rolfe Judd Architects, London/Epsom

Eye-catching from a distance, striking from close-up. The façcade of the building gives it a strong presence, moving forward in contemporary architecture. Making Epsom Station immediately recognizable. The steel lines reveal themselves as abstracted images of railway tracks, going crisscross as we all travel from A to B. The frosted panels reflect the ever- changing skies, in stark contrast with the triangular coloured panels making it a playful but bold statement. The design of coloured glass and steel runs through the outside of the car-park situated on the first floor and the canopy above the entrance, which flows further through the inside of the station. The abstract and minimal design seduces you to look up and up again and invokes serious thoughts from totally contrasting historical spaces in Epsom.
